The Step2 Company, the largest American manufacturer of preschool and toddler toys and the world's largest rotational molder of plastics, is looking for a Brand and Product Manager to work in the Marketing Department at our Corporate Offices in Streetsboro, Ohio.

The Brand and Product Manager will own all Marketing related duties of assigned product category(s) beginning with new item concept development to successful commercialization and marketing activation to maximize our rate of growth and profitability. This role also owns identifying, developing and cultivating mutually beneficial partnerships with licensors and affinity sport marketing partners increasing brand awareness and driving sales. The role regularly works cross functionally with members of the R & D, Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering Teams and is called upon to lead initiatives.

This high visibility role is seeking an energetic and creative problem solver who has a passion for product and seeing the immediate impact of their efforts.


  1. Coordinate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development process; including:

    1. Work directly with R & D to ensure all concepts incorporate essential features and are on cost

    2. Work with Engineering and Scheduling to ensure all new items come to market on time, within customer ship dates

  2. Track all new products, product costs, tooling costs and internal margins to hit specified costing requirements

  3. Work with Sales to identify exclusive and incremental sales opportunities through color variations, combos, differentiated product features, etc.

  4. Create the pricing and positioning strategy, which clearly defines the overt benefit and dramatic difference for each product in the category

  5. Work with Digital Marketing and outside agencies to create and execute marketing launch campaigns for new products, with a heavy emphasis on PR, social media, e-mail, and online marketing

  6. Develop and launch online/in person focus group research studies, including drafting/deploying research surveys and discussion guides; write up debriefs, and moderate focus groups

  7. Coordinate with licensed partners on all aspects of contracts, co-branded product development, and awareness campaigns to maximize sales

  8. Create and execute product/showroom set-up for trade shows and sales meetings

  9. Provide critical creative direction for photo and video shoots; supply necessary props or special attire

  10. Create copy/sales collateral, product packaging and product demo videos to support customer line reviews and sales meetings

  11. Perform analysis of marketing and sales data

  12. Seek and analyze competitors' marketing materials and new products, both on and offline

  13. Explore and propose updates/enhancements and new options for enhanced branding efforts

  14. Assist and coordinate internal corporate social events

  15. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed


  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3-5 years Marketing experience


  • Master's degree preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are a must

  • Experience in retail or customer service is a distinct advantage

  • Requires a self-starter who is a diplomatic team player able to meet rigid deadlines and excel in an environment of rapid growth

  • Works well in a fast-paced environment

  • An understanding of automotive trends and car culture is an advantage

  • Accustomed to and personally flexible for travel (about 25% of the time; somewhat seasonal)
