The STCoE Turbine Design Engineering team combines mechanical integration, design, customer issue resolution, RCA/CA support for field issues, unit operation and field validation, to lead and support the STCoE technology teams.
*This position will be responsible for steam turbine seal design, in the area of new product development and project execution, including associated life cycle support of the product.
*Work closely with mechanical design integration initiatives including establishing requirements for successful technical integration of steam turbine sealing technologies, and ensuring an optimized engineering solution to meet product requirements.
*Team success depends on interaction with Program managers, Product System Integration Leaders, technology teams, Installation & Field Service installation teams, and the Global Supply Chain.
*Responsible for analyzing data (shop, field, etc.) and recommending actions to solve design related issues.
*Develop expertise in computer models used in analysis (thermal/mechanical finite element, data reduction).
*Prepare, document and communicate results and recommendations.
*Review and approve drawings and specifications.
*Identify and drive new and proven sealing technologies into steam turbine products with focus on performance enhancement and cost reduction.
*Lead/support efforts for creating vision for next generation of sealing technology and analysis tools.
*Analyze competitive data and integrate with other GE businesses on sealing technology and advances in design.
Qualifications
*Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences.
Desired
*Minimum of 2 years of design experience or equivalent.
*Advanced Engineering Degree.
*Experience working with global resources.
*Prior Steam Turbine or rotating machinery design experience.
*System Design experience.
*Familiar with factory assembly practices.
*Hands-on knowledge of mechanical components and systems.
*Strong analytical and computational skills.
*Strong verbal and written communication skills.
*Team Player with demonstrated skills.
*Strong sense of project ownership and for delivery of accurate results on time.
*Six Sigma Green Belt Certified (GE employees only). General
