John Deere Agriculture Equipment Division is seeking a Reliability Engineer to perform basic product design, testing and/or analysis work for a defined portion of a project. In this position, you will:
Allow reliability of designs to be established, as well as targets to be developed. Company direction and focus on Deere Product Quality System (DPQS) requires us to be able to determine the reliability of new products and designs before moving to production phases of implementation. Serve as a dedicated resource to determine area's with potential for improvement in warranty performance (or Returns & Allowances (R&A) reduction) to be able to guide direction for redesign in new programs or continuous improvement programs. Analyze specific portions of a design for potential reliability issues. Review current designs and warranty information to determine necessary areas of improvement. Measure, track and report on reliability of test machines. Predict initial production reliability of new designs. Determine inherent reliability of new designs -analyze test data and reduce to usable information for product design.
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in Reliability, Quality, Mechanical, Agricultural Engineering, Math, Physics or equivalent experience. Required Skills and Experience
Ability to interpret, analyze, and present technical information using practical judgment. Capable of functioning effectively in a team environment. Proficient in Excel pivot tables and charting. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Ability to organize and manage concurrent activities. Knowledge of advanced data gathering and analysis techniques, including statistical analysis. Knowledge of standard quality and reliability tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), Weibull Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Statistics. Skill in facilitating meetings, making presentations and communicating with others.
Desired Skills and Experience
Skill in using reliability prediction and calculation techniques for both repairable and non-repairable systems. CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer) certification through ASQ (American Society of Quality) desired. Experience with Six Sigma methodology. Experience in one or more related engineering areas: design, test, manufacturing, or quality. Experience in use of statistical tools and techniques for reliability management. Understanding of product reliability goals, reliability growth, and reliability prediction
