Responsible for defined work or projects with moderate complexity. Follows an individual work plan and meets day-to-day short-term objectives. Has the ability to resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
* Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements.
* Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
* Document and communicate results of technical data generated.
* Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives.
* Share information and promote open dialogue.
* Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business.
* Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures. Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
Desired
* Graduate degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or Engineering Mechanics.
* Familiarity with design and analysis tools, e.g. finite element analysis.
* Familiarity with life analysis methods: fatigue, creep, fracture mechanics, etc.
* Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
* Prior experience in power generation/aircraft engines industries is a plus. General
Work scope for this position includes
* Evaluate, validate and improve turbomachinery component design methods and tools for stress and life analyses.
* Support development of new procedures and techniques to promote the understanding of component behavior.
* Demonstration of first time application, documentation and tools training and sharing of best practices.
* Work with GE Global Research Center on technology development programs related to stress and life methods and tools.
* Promote component modeling organization responsiveness to customer needs.
This position is in the Component Modeling Section under the Engineering Tools Center of Excellence. The Component Modeling organization is the GE Infrastructure focal point for the development of engineering design tools and techniques in Stress and Life, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer, Aeromechanics, Combustion and Materials.
