Job Purpose The Wind Product Life Technology Engineer has overall responsibility for the continuous improvement of the reliability of Wind Energy power conversion equipment in the field. The successful candidate shall be a champion for CoE control products for one of our largest and fastest growing customers (GE Wind Energy). The successful candidate will work with global customers, suppliers, design engineers, service engineers, and manufacturing to detect, correct, and prevent product issues that interfere with wind farm operation
Essential Functions
Own the product quality and reliability metrics with support from skilled data and statistical resources. These metrics provide a gage of overall product performance and trends and allow identification of top issues for prioritized root cause analysis effort.
Drive the analysis of top issues to understand failure mechanisms and determine root causes. Interface with the failure analysis laboratory to answer key questions and test hypotheses.
Work with the product designers to identify and validate corrective actions. Communicate corrective actions using the appropriate vehicle (service bulletin, field change notice etc.)
Identify and communicate appropriate preventive measures that seek to maximize system benefit from the lessons learned. This knowledge management is a key component of the position.
Define and implement control mechanisms that allow improved detectability and issue prevention.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
4 year engineering / technical degree.
Proficient in the use of PC software applications.

Desired Characteristics
2+ years field experience electrical troubleshooting of industrial drives, exciters, and/or generators.
Black belt certified (GE employees only).
Experience with Mark VIe platform hardware and software.
Experience with Wind-DFIG, Wind-SYNC, and GE Pitch Control systems.
Previous experience with power conversion, PLCs, SCADA.
Familiarization with Ethernet network setup & devices.
