Description

This shall be a combined role with the primary focus on geriatrics; secondary attention given to Enterostomal Therapy. The Nurse fulfilling this role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the plan of care for these specific populations. Collaboration with the Outpatient Therapy Services Department requires occasional outpatient management of Enterostomal services at NHH.

Qualifications

Required Job Qualifications Include:

Current licensure as an RN.

Master's degree from a school of professional nursing as Clinical Nurse Specialist in Geriatrics.

Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience.

Minimum of five (5) years experience in an acute care setting, working in a related area of expertise within the past two years.

Previous instruction experience preferred.
Competency in utilizing computer programs for developing instructional materials, tracking related data and communicating information.
Graduate of a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gerontology Program; with accreditation as a Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist – Board Certified (GCNS-BC) within 12 months of hire.
Able to speak, read and understand English fluently.
Excellent communicator with engaging and effective presentation abilities.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Knowledge of standards and regulations related to staff development and patient education.
Researches and recommends the purchase of educational materials and equipment.
Coordinates and/or collaborates with external learning institutions as they utilize the hospital as a clinical teaching site.
