The Grow Network currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Software Development Manager.



The Software Development Manager oversees the performance of a team of on/offshore developers, system analysts and support staff to deliver client applications and technical implementations for a single Grow product line. Single point of contact for planning, implementation status and escalation with Product Managers, Project Managers and technical staff. Work with the architecture group to plan and implement the product roadmap.

Manage 5-10 onshore/offshore software developers; provides mentorship, career path guidance, performance management reviews for onshore staff; coordinates resources to ensure coverage on all projects; capacity plans resource needs with offshore teams; troubleshoots issues and communicates project status.
Works with Product Managers to understand product roadmap; engage architects to define the technology roadmap; plan investment cases and supporting documentation; estimate implementations; and explain product-line technology choices to clients and executives.
Continually improves internal development processes; works with department leads and peers to improve cross-team collaboration and processes
Performs administrative managerial functions (e.g., approves invoices, contracts, etc.)

Minimum of five+ years experience in an engineering leadership role managing software developers
Experience leading cross-functional teams in both product-development and custom implementation environments
Experience leading varied teams (architects and system analysts, product managers and sales staff) through a variety of processes
Experience with budgetary planning and management
Experience with resource management, planning, and sourcing
Ability to demonstrate a full understanding of base computer science concepts
Proven Java and J2EE skills and experience with technologies such as JSPs and JSTL, JAXB, JDBC, JMS, Spring and/or Struts and/or JSF
Experience with SOA architecture, design and development with WSDL/SOAP, REST, JBI, or SCA
Experience with XML and XSLT for rendering HTML and other output
Experience with current software development and management practices such as the RUP, as well as Agile and Lean methodologies.
Experience leading offshore and blended development teams and reviewing artifacts
Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
