Maintains and develops accounting systems and procedures to ensure adequate accounting and control for various reporting functions. Conducts technical accounting-based research and analysis to provide management with definitive financial data. Prepares financial statements and reports. Researches, collects, classifies, and reviews data and participates in the development and preparation of reports and financial statements.

1. Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating general ledger maintenance, report preparation, and financial statistics.
2. Responsible for assisting in the creation of emerging reporting requirements.
3. Monitors the preparation of various financial statements and reports required by the company, its external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
4. Provides management with various financial reports, including ad-hoc reports as requested.
5. Ensures all reports meet professional, regulatory, and corporate standards.
6. Reviews reports to ensure that all published financial statements foot and agree to supporting schedules.
7. Ensures all variances are explained. Works with functional analysts to ensure adequate explanations are provided.
8. Reviews variance commentary submitted from functional areas and reviews it against variance reports. Cross check the commentary against the report to ensure that the commentary answers the variance questions.
9. Monitors the preparation and review of the first draft of senior management financial summary that is drawn from departmental variance analysis and explanations.
10. Will participate in complex projects for specific areas of responsibility and for multiple bank applications.
11. Administers approved accounting practices throughout the department.
12. Responsible for overall supervision of the staff in assigned areas. Monitor and assign work, staffing, and training.
13. Ability to perform complex assignments involving high degree of mental alertness, initiative, and application of sound accounting principals.
14. Answers inquiries regarding accounting policies, procedures, and problems from management and auditors.
15. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
16. Must have strong analytical skills and a solid financial accounting background.
17. Individual must display strong initiative to improve reporting and improve efficiency of closing process.
18. Responsible for managing a staff of up to five professionals.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Five years of related work experience, preferably with a financial institution. Supervisory experience preferred. Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications.
