Middleware Analyst, Technical Services

Job Summary:
The Technical Services Department delivers optimum systems software solutions to meet the needs of Shared Operations customers on MVS Mainframes, Intel, UNIX/AIX/HP-UX/Solaris client server based platforms, messaging, web, and telephony environments.

As a member of the Middleware team, the Middleware Analyst is responsible for the infrastructure that supports over 100 dynamic web sites and web service middleware. The individual that we are looking for will ensure that web operations are maintained at a high level of performance, functionality, and availability in development, test, and production environments.

Responsibilities include:

- Installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of web servers, java application servers, and platform operating systems.

- Provide support for application developers in our customer environments.

- Ensure that infrastructure conforms to architecture, operations, and security standards and procedures.

- 7x24 on-call support.

- Create, maintain, and test disaster recovery procedures.

- Provide planning and execution for departmental projects to customer satisfaction.

- Evaluation of available software products to meet corporate business requirements.

Qualifications:
· University Degree or substantial directly related work experience

· Excellent knowledge of java application servers, preferably BEA Weblogic products including :
WebLogic Server v 9.2,
WebLogic Portal v 9.2,
WebLogic Integration v8.1, and
AquaLogic Service Bus v 2.5

· Excellent knowledge of web servers, preferably Apache

· Excellent knowledge of scripting tools for automation, monitoring and troubleshooting

· Good knowledge of Unix operating systems, preferably Redhat Linux 4 and preferably HP-UX 11 but any other flavour of Unix is okay

· Good knowledge of hardware support for Intel and Unix platforms

· Good knowledge of internet security issues

· Understanding of databases including Oracle 9i, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, and MySQL

· Excellent problem determination and resolution skills.

· Strong organizational, interpersonal, motivational and analytical skills

· Effective written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work effectively on multiple simultaneous tasks within fast paced, customer service oriented environments

· Availability for on-call support

· Successful applicants should have experience in an enterprise class environment supporting 5000+ users and established change and incident management procedures.
