Minimum Education: High School Job Type: Full Time Email this job to yourself or to a friend Click Here to Apply OnlinePurpose: To facilitate the accurate and timely movement of customer’s ocean freight import shipments, FLC and LCL, from origin to destination in compliance with company standards and government agencies, such as FMC and Customs and Border Protection.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Act as domestic coordinator for import shipment travelling via our surface transportation group.
• Confirm shipping details against documents such as piece count, weight, volume, origin, POD, destination, etc.
• Match & confirm arrival notices from Steamship Lines
• Provide backup support for Freight Release Calls
• Invoice customer for ocean freight charges or other applicable charges such as inland charges
• Maintain accuracy of data and shipment status as changes occur, and correctly and completely enter in the Global system.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
• Minimum 1 years experience in international ocean freight forwarding. Must possess an understanding of the functions and obligations of a freight forwarder and NVOCC.
• Basic knowledge of PC programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Communication Skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, co-workers and international business partners using both written and verbal forms of communication.
Mathematical Skills
• Good math skills required Must be able to convert amounts from metric to US and vice versa. Must be able to calculate conversions of currencies. Must understand and be able to calculate volumes in metric and English units.
Physical Environment
Employee must lift up to 30 lbs, sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, reach above head for files, grasp, handle, and perform finger operations for computer and phone related duties. Must operate normal office equipment such as phone, computer, fax machine, and copy machine. Must remained seated for extend periods of time.
