Position Description Lay out, construct, install and rebuild refrigeration and year-round air conditioning equipment for plant facilities. Perform work described in other maintenance classifications when incidental but necessary to the accomplishment of the assignment.Work from blueprints, sketches, verbal instructions, handbooks, etc., to accomplish required work. Read and make control adjustments using such typical testing equipment as refrigerant leak tester, thermometer (wet and dry bulbs), sling psychrometer, monometer, velometer, hydrometer, humidistat, etc. Install and adjust valve controls and perform electrical wiring and installation of special electronic controls used for regulating and controlling refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Repair, maintain, trouble shoot and adjust all existing types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Maintain necessary temperature and service records. Lead and work with lower graded employees. Proper license or certificate of qualifications may be required to perform above duties in accordance with existing city codes.

Effectively communicate verbal information such as tie-ins and job related information. Knowledge of safe working practices, emergency procedures and possible dangerous situations. Knowledge of proper use, handling and disposal of hazardous materials per government regulations. Investigate and resolve problems; devise and implement solutions. "Think before acting," (e.g., anticipate outcome of an action, know if something looks wrong) and ask questions when necessary. Mechanical ability, manual dexterity, and hand/eye coordination required to perform various projects, per drawings, sketches, and verbal or written instructions. Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g., scissor lifts, elevated work platforms) in a safe manner. Organize, plan, and sequence work efficiently. Follow oral/written instructions provided by the lead, team leader, supervisor and/or engineering. Operate computing equipment to input job information (e.g., write tie-ins, reports, rejections, and/or maintain records, logs). Knowledge of various chemicals and potential hazardous interactions when chemicals are mixed improperly. Use mathematics including practical math, algebra and geometry.
Education and/or Experience Preferred 2 year electronics degree, 15 years industrial /commercial HVAC experience required, Current Refrigerant handling license required
