Position Description
Position is on the GMD program in Huntsville, AL and supports the Interceptor Systems Engineering, Integration and Test organization as a GMD Change Engineer. Candidate will provide technical ownership and direction related to the processing of Class II Change packages. Change Engineer will be responsible for all change packages impacting the organization, from initiation through approval and implementation. In addition, will be responsible for reviewing and approving change packages to ensure technical completeness and consistency and provide management and chief engineer with status. This position utilizes knowledge of GMD GBI technical and business operations to ensure delivered change packages/products meet customer expectations. Change engineer should expect to conduct cross-functional strategy meetings, maintain technical understanding, develop ground rules & assumptions and act as a focal point with program management. Will be expected to review estimates and impacts with management, CAMs and support discussions with technical leads. Candidate will use understanding of Earned Value Management and government proposal work to accomplish assigned tasks. Works under minimal supervision. Ability to coach less experienced group members. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues. Works under minimal direction. Note: The level of the classification for a specific applicant will be based on the qualifications of that applicant.
