John Deere Phoenix is seeking a Sr. Mfg Test Engineer Power Electronics to design new and enhance existing manufacturing functional test systems for robust electronics intended for on/off road vehicles and harsh environments. In this position, you will:
Perform requirements capture, analysis, design, programming, debugging, hardware integration and verification. Focus on power electronics and testing of these high power devices in a manufacturing environment . In general, the systems will include analog / digital electronics, software operating systems, advanced control theory / methods, hydraulic control, electric motor control and displays / instrumentation. Perform tasks with minimum efforts and the smallest amount of supervision to meet quality, delivery and cost goals. Gather and format requirements directly from customers without assistance from others. Review and provide proper feedback about the requirements. Create and review innovative HW/SW testing architectures and designs for challenging problems without need for peer guidance or supervision. This includes breaking the original requirements down into the proper high level and mid range architecture and then creating detailed design notes from the results. Perform advanced analysis and make recommendations and design decisions based on results with minimal assistance from others. Review the design calculations of others to ensure proper application of design techniques. Operate in a team environment, providing guidance to design solutions and actively participating in design reviews.
Education
Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering from an accredited engineering program. Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience testing 2-450KW Motor controller, Power converters or inverters. Minimum 3 years of experience dealing with high voltage testing and development environment. 2 to 4 years of experience in SW development (C, C++, XML, etc.) 5 to 8 years of experience in Labview or other NI programming languages. 5 to 8 years of experience with basic controls, and Data Acquisition systems (DAQ) Technical expertise using and understanding schematics and HW analysis software (Pspice, MathCAD) Experience in statistical analysis (SPC, GR&R, Monte Carlo, etc.) Experience with development and debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters, and high voltage/current measurement tools , etc.) Experience with basic electronics HW and systems (i.e. Op Amp, FET’s, Transistors, A/D converters, serial and parallel interfaces, etc.) Understanding of product development phases. Good written and verbal communications skills (English) Electronics manufacturing functional testing experience. Desired Skills and Experience
Testing high power devices in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with Switch Reluctance, Permanent Magnet and 3-phase traction drive motors.
Experience with communication protocols (i.e. CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet, USB, etc.)
MathCAD, Orcad, Pspice experience.
J1939 / ISO11783
Experience with basic machine control.
Experience with CMMI, ISO or other mature development models.
