Salary: Starting salary is $20.995 per hour, plus an excellent benefits package is also available. (Note for current state employees: This position is in pay schedule 14, range 56. Pay and benefits upon appointment for current or former state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code and/or collective bargaining agreement.) A six-month probationary period is required.
Job Duties: This position is responsible for office space planning, design and utilization analyses; and project oversight including scheduling, budget and construction specification monitoring. Duties include directing and monitoring facility managers and contractors, leading DWD participation in facility planning statewide and utilizing computer aided drafting and design programs software applications.

Well qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Note: At the time of the interview, you will be asked to participate in a practical exercise to demonstrate and verify your understanding of and ability to operate ACAD.
Knowledge Required: Knowledge of: principles of construction and buildings and building systems, including materials and methods of construction fabrication; principles of space analysis; Americans with Disabilities Act; building accessibility requirements defined by the ADA; architectural, construction and interior design principles and practices; ergonomic applications and practices; computer aided drafting and design software (ACAD); expertise in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications; project management techniques; ability to: effectively manage a variety of individuals involved in facility projects, such as architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, developers, landlords and clients; interpret space plans; interpret electrical, HVAC, plumbing and structural plans and specifications; skill in: managing facility projects; using computer aided drafting and design software (ACAD); effective oral and written communications. Periodic in-state travel may also be necessary.
