* Lead the development of the packaging of the batteries for various transportation applications.
* Design the structures using sound engineering principles to assure batteries are packaged.
* Write change orders and work with the drafting team to have designs modeled.
* Work with the various organizations to have models analyzed.
* Understand regulatory guidelines pertaining to battery testing.
* Test and validate final designs to assure they meet all requirements for reliability, quality, weight and cost.
* Prepare and present information to other engineering teams through design reviews to assure full integration with the locomotive and other subsystem designs.
* Work with the manufacturing team to assure the designs meet assembly and manufacturability requirements.
* Support the shop during initial builds and make design changes as required.
* Utilize extensively the GE standard tools for requirements documentation. Qualifications
Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or University.
Desired
* Mechanical or Structural Engineering degree.
* Strong drive for meeting internal and external customer requirements.
* Ability to understand electrical systems.
* Some electrical design experience a plus.
* Ability to work with manufacturing and shop production effectively.
* Mechanical aptitude to design and build structures.
* Utilization of electronic tools to develop CAD models or the ability to use tools to review and verify using 3d modeling.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. General
