Traction Control Design Engineer for key Locomotive Embedded Control Systems. Engineers in this subsection use state-of-the-art design/validation processes to produce control systems that meet robust performance and reliability goals. Design Engineers utilize control systems modeling, Six Sigma statistical tools/methodology and other advanced tools to complete projects.

-Responsible for defined work or projects with moderate complexity.

-Follows an individual work plan and meets day-to-day short-term objectives.

-Has the ability to resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

- Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements.

- Responsible for the creation/modification of detailed design documents, requirement traceability matrices, failure mode analysis(FMEA), reliability/DFSS scorecards, detailed test plans and test procedures.

- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.

- Document and communicate results of technical data generated.

- Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives.

- Share information and promote open dialogue.

- Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business.
Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from accredited college or university.

Desired

Knowledge of, or experience in/with:

- In AC/DC motor control/alternator control.

- With modeling/computer simulations and the use of a state-of-the-art simulation packages e.g. MATLAB, MatrixX.

- In distributed control systems.

- With QNX real time operating system.

- Advanced technical degree desirable.

- Willingness to work flexible/additional hours to complete job activities.

- Willingness to work on locomotives and/or field sites to develop designs or resolve issues.

- Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.

- Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

- PC proficiency.
