General Job Objective
Overall resource responsibility for all procurement and supply management functions, both tactical and strategic. Business partner to the General Managers of each Business Unit, and contributory member of the Group Staff. Responsible for deployment of and adherence to corporate directives involving the procurement function and supply base. Responsible for leveraging material & indirect spend across the Marine Group.
Essential Job Functions
Evaluate and transform both internal & external procurement & supply chain activities to drive best value for the organization. Represent and advocate Marine Group interests to Corporate Procurement Council. Evaluate the current supply base for major commodities and services and develop new or existing sources of supply to support future business activities. Write performance evaluations; issue counseling forms/disciplinary actions; handle employee complaints and grievances; recommend the hiring; termination and promotion of staff in functional area. Establish, maintain and monitor adherence to performance objectives for subordinate staff, and apply corrective actions when warranted. Establish, maintain and oversee department budgets. Counsel & assist management of Group business units in the area of procurement & supply chain. Plan and promote staff participation in company training programs and professional development activities, both within and outside company. Serve a procurement & materials resource on ERP System Steering Committee.
Job Requirements/Working Conditions
Minimum 10 years leading a procurement organization, with a significant portion engaged in shipbuilding and/or ship-repair. Master s degree in Business Administration required. Thorough knowledge of procurement and supply chain practices & procedures. Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified Professional in Supply Management (C.P.S.M.) or Certified Supply Chain Manager (C.S.C.M.) designation desireable.
