Summary

The Design Engineer provides site evaluation, system design, and sub-consultant management services for EI Solutions commercial projects as a part of the Projects Engineering Group. The Projects Engineering Group designs rooftop and ground mounted solar arrays, generating full sets of construction documents to support our in-house construction project management team. Candidates must demonstrate strong design, communication, and creative problem solving skills, and have excellent AutoCAD skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Preparation of detailed civil, electrical, and/or structural designs for rooftop systems and free standing ground-mounted solar arrays
Site layout, planning and design
Coordination with Sales Leads, Project Managers, and other project participants
Managing engineering consultants for calculations, drawing packages, professional stamps
Designing components to address site-specific requirements
Creating and maintaining AutoCAD drawing packages
Creating Bills of Materials for projects
Assisting Salespeople and construction Project Managers with design related questions, responding to RFIs from the field
Site visits, including occasional domestic and international travel
Oversight and training of junior CAD Drafters, Designers, and Site Surveyors

Skills:
Education and Experience

A Bachelors degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering OR
A Masters degree in Architecture
AND Minimum 3-5 years experience in Engineering or Design, post-degree
EIT or PE is a plus, ongoing professional development is encouraged

Qualifications

Able to also speak Mandarin and/ or Arabic is a strong plus.
Candidates must be highly organized and capable of working on multiple projects
Knowledge of electrical design, materials and methods of installation, especially in power generation, is a plus
Strong design and engineering sills
Proficiency with AutoCAD and generating detailed construction drawings
Good communication skills
