Program Description:

Garfield School is seeking a dedicated individual to teach Mandarin to two classes of elementary school aged students in an after school setting. The program will run Tuesday through Friday from 2pm- 4:30pm each week. The instructional objective of the program will focus on teaching the children to speak, read, and write Mandarin, as well as expose them to cultural aspects such as Chinese art, cooking, games, legends, and mythology, etc. The teacher will be responsible for implementation of curriculum, evaluation of student progress, and communication with a parent advisory council.

Required Qualification:
• Fluency in (Mandarin) Chinese
• Experience working in an elementary school setting with mixed ages (5-10) and language abilities
• Understands and delivers age appropriate instructions
• Great interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge of Chinese history and culture, art, dance, sports, and other skills/ talents (a plus)
