STRUCTURAL DRAFTSPERSON

Location: Ottawa, ON

Scope of Responsibilities:

- Develop and prepare drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering design and other data.
- Create detailed drawings for building structures, using AutoCAD.
- Perform structural design layouts and modifications to drawings as required by the Project Manager.
- Interact with structural engineering to obtain project requirements (timetable and man-hour budget) for drafting.
- Liaise with architect's project draftsperson to obtain architectural information necessary to complete the plans, sections, details and title blocks.
- Check drawings against the architectural drawings for compatibility and completeness.
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets.
- File drawings after completion of working drawings.
- Maintain drafting standards.
- Record activities on each project for reference on invoices.

Qualifications:

- 1-2 years of related structural drafting work experience gained through full time, summer, co-op or internship placement(s)
- Graduate of an Engineering Design or Drafting Technology program
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to create structural engineering & construction drawings
- Experience with MicroStation is an asset
- Intermediate knowledge of structures built with wood, concrete, steel, and a variety of foundation systems
- The ability to work well within a team environment and possess strong communication skills
