Responsibilities:
*Work on a project team as the lead technical person for SCADA / RTU / Communications / Substation Automation project implementation for complex projects.
*Design all system levels and defines system components including System Architecture drawings, wiring diagrams, points lists, configurations, HMI screens, and a detailed bill of materials.
*Prepare system integration plans, system specification, factory and site acceptance test documents.
*Define work scope and serve as direct customer contact on system technical issues, clarify and seek customer approval on project technical deliverables. (May require on-demand Application Engineering and Customer Support including on-site commissioning.)
*May oversee and direct designers.
*Approve factory and assembly drawings related to designed systems and recommend changes when required.
*Assist project manager and project engineer in resolving any scheduling conflicts as necessary, to achieve delivery requirements.
*Conduct SCADA system commissioning and Site Acceptance Tests.
*Assist Applications Engineering on bid of system engineering efforts.
*Seek resolutions on hardware, software or performance related systems issues.
*Mentor junior engineering and works with project team members such as the project engineer and protection engineer to ensure a coordinated package is delivered on-time and on-schedule with high quality.
*Abide by all Corporate and local policies and procedures including but not limited to Integrity, Diversity, Proprietary Information, Conflict of Interest, QMS and EHS.
*Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
*BS in Electrical Engineering.
*At least four (4) years of experience with design, specification and implementation of software and/or hardware systems.
Desired Qualifications:
*Strong knowledge of utility-grade substation automation systems and logic design, SCADA applications, communication protocols & interface design, power system protection schemes and relays.
*Proficiency in Windows OS, Microsoft Office applications.
*Strong working knowledge of database applications, CAD tools, HMI and programming skills are an asset.
*Experience conducting factory and site testing and commissioning methods and maintenance procedures.
*Experience designing SCADA panels including elevations and wiring drawings.
*PE license in the United States.
*Experience with Substation Automation logic design and implementation including interlocking, autosequencing, synch-check and synchronizing, transformer paralleling, digital fault recording, and power quality monitoring.
*Communication experience including RS232, RS485, fiber optic, serial & Ethernet networking (IP addressing schemes, subnets).
*Communication interface design and configuration with devices including PC's, printers, time sources with IRIG-B, SNTP, Data Concentrators, IEDs (meters, protection relays, reclosers, bay controllers). Specific equipment GE D20, D25, Mutilin UR, Powerlink HMI, Cooper reclosers, SEL Gateways (2030, 2032, 30xx) and SEL protective relays.
*Protocol application experience with DNP 3.0, IEC 101, 103, 104, 61850, SEL Fast Meter and SEL ASCII protocols.
*HMI development, configuration and implementation of GE Fanuc Cimplicity or Factorylink systems.
*Experience with GE Config Pro, PACT and GE Multlin Enervista, SEL Accelerator configurations tools.
*Ability to work independently within a dynamic work environment is essential.
*Work well on a team including well-developed organizational and interpersonal skills as well as a customer focused attitude.
*Strong command of the English language using oral and written skills to communicate technical and business concepts.
*Available to travel, occasionally overseas.
