Duties:
1.Perform independent risk assessments of planned and unplanned rocket motor component design and build processing changes.Specifically, components related to avionics, controls, and electrical subsystems. 2. As integral member of integrated Product/Process Team (IPT), assist in development and verification of design and manufacturing processes. 3. As integral member of IPT, identify and facilitate team identification of potential product/process risks and work with team to implement proactive mitigation actions and continuous improvement. 4. Create, evaluate and maintain accurate risk documentation (FMEA/CIL, Hazards). Identify and document significant rocket motor problems and formulate, coordinate, execute and communicate resolutions plans and actions. 5. Assess and interpret test and analytical data. 6. Participate in post-flight / post-test hardware disassembly, inspection and test at KSC and Utah facilities. 7. Learn and apply risk tools including Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Fault Tree Analysis, root cause analysis, probabilistic risk assessment, etc.
Minimum Requirements: B.S.Degree - Electrical Engineering 10 years engineering experience relating to avionics, controls, and electrical systems
Desired Experience:
Experience in design, analysis, or manufacturing relating to avionics, controls, and electrical systems Knowledge of solid rocket motor design, manufacture, test, or performance Familiarity with concept of failure modes and causes, and risk documentation methods including Hazard Reports and FMEA/CIL Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-discipline team Demonstrated complex problem solving skills Ability to plan and execute actions in logical sequence Ability to train, teach, and mentor others in technical subjects Working knowledge of NASA programs quality Systems: MRB, CoFR, COQ, etc. Ability to assimilate and communicate complex data and information and master new skills.
This position may be filled at EngineerIV level requiring 7 years years engineering experience relating to avionics, controls, and electrical systems
