In light of increasing student enrollment, we seek to hire a creative Mandarin teacher who can connect with students and explain material in a way that fosters meaningful learning. Although we prefer to hire teachers with previous tutoring experience, we encourage anyone with a comprehensive understanding of Mandarin to apply. You need not be a credentialed teacher, and recent college graduates are encouraged to apply. Applicants who are able to teach other foreign languages, such as Spanish, French, or German, in addition to Mandarin, are especially encouraged to apply.

As a high school Mandarin teacher at School for Independent Learners, you'll teach one-to-one Mandarin classes. You'll meet with individual students, several times a week, to teach semester and yearlong courses. We will provide you with comprehensive course curricula (lesson plans, activities, and assessment tools), but you'll be able to teach ideas, of your choosing, that you feel passionate about. You will have the freedom to teach in your own style, to speak with your own voice.

School for Independent Learners is a small, private high school in Los Altos, strategically located near the intersection of El Camino and San Antonio. Students attend our school for our personalized pace, our nurturing and fun environment, our challenging UC-approved curriculum, and our flexible schedule. We also tutor part-time students who attend other high schools.
