Assignment will be 100% DSP&S. Includes identifying students able to profit from instruction in pre-vocational skills training; evaluating functional limitations, skills and abilities of student for appropriate vocational placements; developing curriculum and individualized instructional plans; instructing individuals in appropriate pre-vocational skills; maintaining files and completing reports; serving as liaison and resource person for disabled students faculty, counselors, CVRC and the community; participating in career awareness and exploration activities; supervising student assistants; serving on the basis of 35 hours per week being a full-time assignment, and other duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Include an earned master’s degree in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling; and fifteen semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability, to include but not be limited to: learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, deaf and hearing impaired, physical disabilities, or adapted computer technology; or a valid California Community College Credential and demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable Qualifications
Includes a master’s degree with specialization in one of the following: Instruction for students with severe disabilities or acquired brain injuries; or a master’s degree in education with an emphasis on severe disabilities; or a master’s degree in severe disabilities or equivalent coursework in special education; extent of experience working with college age students with developmentally delayed disabilities or severe disabilities; extent of experience in curriculum and/or program development for students/persons in independent living skills and pre-vocational skills training; extent of knowledge and experience in teaching pre-vocational skills and independent living skills; extent of knowledge of Title V of Education Code and Title XVII CVRC regulations; extent of experience in grant writing; extent of knowledge of various severe disabilities; extent of experience working with students with a variety of disabling conditions; extent of experience working with students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
