Click Here to Apply OnlineConnecting With Care (CWC) is a multi-year project of the Alliance for Inclusion and Prevention (AIP) and multiple community mental health partners. AIP is a non-profit children's mental health and special education agency serving students and their families in the Boston Public Schools. The goal of CWC is to engage mental health providers and funders in building increased and improved school-based capacity to serve the mental health and traumatic stress-related needs of students and families in Boston Public Schools in and around the Grove Hall and Dorchester neighborhoods of Boston. While AIP is the lead agency, clinicians are employees of our partner non-profit children’s mental health agencies.
Position description:
• Provide outpatient clinical assessment and individual, family, and group therapy with school-based and clinic-based children, adolescents and their families who have trauma, mental health, behavioral, psychosocial, or substance abuse concerns. Competitive compensation and productivity incentives.
• CWC clinicians work 40 hours/week, year-round, carrying a caseload of about 25 children/families.
• Each CWC clinician will be assigned to one Boston Public School in Dorchester or Roxbury.
• Clinician holds primary responsibility for forging a strong, supportive, collaborative working relationship with this school.
• Most services will be provided in this school, during the day. Eight hours per week are reserved to provide counseling services to families from the clinician’s school at the centralized CWC Evening Family Clinic, sited at Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School in Dorchester. Evening clinic meets two evenings/week, 4pm to 8pm. Day schedules are adjusted to accommodate evening clinic work.
• Over the summer, caseloads are reduced somewhat to allow increased time for home visits and informal relationship-building with children and with school groups and summer programs.
• Clinicians will be trained in Trauma Systems Therapy and will receive specialized weekly supervision from Children’s Hospital in this approach to traumatic stress in their work with children, families, and schools.
• Position includes regular team collaboration with clinicians at multiple agencies, as well as with clinical, administrative, and teaching staff at Boston Public Schools.
Skills:
Qualifications:
• Must be licensed in Massachusetts with LICSW, LCSW, or LMHC
• Clinical experience with children, adolescents and families
• Bilingual proficiency (Spanish, Somali, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Vietnamese) preferred but not required
• availability to work in the family clinic 2 afternoon/evening shifts weekly 4 – 8 PM with corresponding flex-time on other days.
