The General Sales Manager role shall be committed to achieving station goals on all levels for all stations (English and Spanish). It is essential to have proven sales management skills necessary to optimize the responsibilities and illuminate the accountability to the sellers. The position requires a creative problem solver who is willing to take risks. Strong analytical and organizational skills are necessary. The position demands the individual to predict and react quickly. This position requires constant interaction with other sales managers, department heads, and sales teams. It is a hands-on job.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1) Responsible for managing all radio stations accounts
2) Achieve station sales goals on all levels for all stations
3) Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly
4) Oversee efforts of sales team by reviewing sales proposals and negotiating with clients
5) Responsible for pricing, station inventory
6) Responsible for sales packages, NTR event revenues, and online/texting revenue streams
7) Develop, implement, and communicate sales strategies and action plans
8) Recruit, hire, coach, train, develop, counsel, and motivate sales team
9) Assist in collection of accounts receivable
10) Build great professional relationships inside and outside the building.
11) Must maintain a high attention to detail
12) Must have a clear understanding of the markets goals and objectives.
13) Develop sales commission and incentive programs for the sales team
14) Track pending business and sales activity
Skills:
Qualifications and Skills
Thorough knowledge of sales principles and practices
Must know how to work both agency and direct business
Must have the ability to delegate, set up goals and hold the sales team accountable to accomplishing them
Must know how to motivate the sales team
Ability to work independently or in team setting
Ability to deliver results, handle deadlines, and related financial pressures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Thorough knowledge of media industry related to pricing, inventory, ratings, marketing, promotion, collections, demographics, and e-business.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
