Responsibilities:

This position is responsible performing senior engineering functions as they relate to the design, integration, testing, deployment and support of cross-platform applications & services including Games. This person will also assist with testing and operational activities as required.

- Provide technology engineering expertise as it relates to the implementation and support of business initiatives for Comcast's cross platform features and applications.

- Work with other members of NE&TO, joint ventures, third party vendors and Comcast's Product Managers and Marketing
teams to deliver quality products, in a timely fashion, that meet defined requirements.

- Understands key business drivers and applies the knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products and services

- Anticipates and interprets customer needs, assesses requirements, and identifies solutions.

- Participate in Comcast product lifecycle process, contributing to and/or creating product and technical requirements, detailed design documents including transaction, capacity and
bandwidth models, systems definitions, and operationa procedures as part of this process.

- In support of this process, ensure that projects are properly accepted into the engineering team, worked on in a timely and efficient manner and smoothly transitioned into the System Integration and Testing & Operations teams.

- Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends complete solutions based on best practices and proven technologies

- Establish and maintain working relationships within NE&TO, Product Development teams, joint ventures, vendors and contractors.

- Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.

- Provide guidance and accept accountability for the performance and reliability of various cross-platform applications and services, and ensure that system failures are restored in a timely manner.

- Participate in the review of catastrophic failures and provide feedback to prevent future occurrences.

- Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science / Information Systems or closely related field, or equivalent in work experience & self study.

- Seven or more years demonstrated experience in a senior / lead Engineering role, including customer-facing products and services.

- At least five years of hands-on experience with SUN Solaris OS, Red Hat Linux, BSD and/or open source operating systems

- Demonstrated experience with Java application development and other environments such as PERL, Unix scripting, etc.

- Experience with Web services frameworks.

- Comprehensive understanding of and direct experience with software development and product lifecycles.

- Excellent analytical ability and communication skills (verbal and written).

- Personal initiative and interpersonal skills to provide the required support and technical assistance to persons of varying technical background and knowledge

- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment

- Creative, self-motivated team player willing to take the lead to develop cutting-edge solutions

- Application server & framework experience e.g. BEA, IBM, Sun

- Direct experience with Web portal technologies, DHTML, Ajax. Flash, Zimbra experience a plus.

- Experience with digital cable / interactive video, set-top box / embedded software preferred. OCAP and/or eTV a plus.

- Direct experience with online, console/game device, PC, and/or STB games service implementation.

- Preferred experience with various networking technologies and protocols (CISCO routers, switches, load balancers, TCP/IP etc.)

- Mobile phone development experience (e.g. MIDP, BREW) a plus

- CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional preferred
