Due to continued growth Philadelphia Gear Corporation has an immediate need for a Project Engineer at our Service Center in Mokena, Illinois.

Our world-class engineering and technical staff provides our customer base across the globe with a full-range of solutions for their power transmission needs – from the installation of new units, to the inspection and equipment repair.

This service center engineer will interact with customers, vendors, office and shop personnel and will act as technical liaison to the corporate engineering department.

The position requires an individual with a broad base of technical skills. A BS degree in mechanical engineering is required. Good written and oral communication skills, team building skills, as well as good organizational skills are critical.

Responsibilities include:
• Evaluation of customer’s specifications for the repair and upgrade of customer’s equipment, and implementation of these requirements.
• Evaluation of the equipment sent in for repair, determination of the suitability of components for reuse, and the development and implementation of rework, quality and test procedures.
• Engineer components and create drawings and documentation. Must have understanding of critical manufacturing tolerances.
• Provide gear design calculations for manufacture of new ratio gear sets
• Develop design and detailed drawings for unit upgrades
• Failure analysis and development of technical reports for customers.
• Coordination of engineering and manufacturing activities at vendor facilities and other PGC locations.
• Support field sales effort by making technical presentations to customers.
• Assisting in technical training of shop personnel.
• Oversight in the resolution of field service problems.

Areas of desired experience include design or manufacturing engineering, assembly or test supervision, field service engineering, and equipment repair. Job-shop manufacturing experience as well as some knowledge of fluid film and rolling element bearings, and of vibration analysis is desirable.
