Project Manager

Lead teams with technical and business members in the design, development and modification of computer applications in a Java/Oracle development environment. The project manager role is critical to the organization and involves multiple developers and analysts. The project manager is expected to have a broad range of internet development technology knowledge. Must have organizational experience leading a technical team of Java developers, and have project management skills leading small to large projects. The project manager is expected to manage projects on time, within budget and meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Create project plans; identify risks, issues list, action items, and weekly status reports as well as adhere to internal project methodologies.
• Identify and resolve project issues and risks, including tracking, escalation and mitigation.
• Perform in an ongoing support role with regard to application and system operations and results. This includes any or all of the following; direct support, problem investigation and/or liaison to other departments to ensure timely problem resolution.
• Manage, integrate and balance resource requirements across multiple projects without adversely impacting deliverables, timelines or quality.
• Report project progress to senior management and stakeholders, identifying issues and resolutions.
• Supervise performance and professional development for technical members of the team.
• Build good team atmosphere by developing positive working relationships with team members and other departments.
• Will resolve critical issues and technical problems. Requires involvement in product design and requirements analysis.
• Coordinate recruiting, hiring, and performance evaluations.
• Set high standards for others to follow.
• Implement and support company objectives and decisions.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
 Experience managing development projects using Agile Methodologies (or similar Development Methodologies)
• Must have strong, structured project leadership experience.
• Previous experience as a project manager leading an object oriented technical development staff. Does not need to be Java; could be another object oriented language such as C++, Smalltalk or .net. (However, Java is strongly preferred.)
• Previous hands-on development experience is required; object oriented development experience is preferred.
• Understanding of object oriented development techniques such as object inheritance, encapsulation and object reuse.
• Knowledge of relational database theory and experience with a relational database product.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and planning skills.
• Project managed team sizes of 5 – 10 developers.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Project.
• Must possess initiative with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced cross-functional development environment.


Preferred:

• Previous experience developing in Java on new development.
• Experience managing large projects doing new development.
• PMP Certification a plus.
