Challenging opportunity to lead a multi year / multi-million dollar program, awarded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO). The Project Manager will coordinate work planning & milestone attainment with a team consisting of engineering, quality, contracting, and proposal writing. This opportunity will offer the right candidate an influential seat on RM&SI’s leadership team and will provide substantial opportunity for career development and growth within Thermo Fisher.
Key Responsibilities:
* Responsible for maintaining project budget and scope of work requirements.
* Responsible for coordination of internal/external resources, assignments of duties, defining scope of authority and communication to the team so that deadlines are met on time and within budget.
* Be intricately involved in negotiations of deadline requirements with internal/external resources.
* Will play a key role in determining project opportunities, to ensure maximum revenue for the RM&SI business.
* Support capture management team for project costing as necessary for new business attainment.
* Meet / exceed revenue annual operating plan (AOP) for project(s) in support of the RMSI Federal Business team.
* Control and administer technical and financial performance of project; manage program/project risks.
* Assume responsibility for delivery by ensuring all components of the project are successfully completed.
* Responsible for creating, coordinating and developing complete project proposals or plans.
* Track projects and issues closely, foster collaboration from both the business and technology groups and lead issue resolution meetings during project.
* Provide team representation and management of government interface regarding specific program aspects.
Qualifications (Experience, Education and Competencies):
* Technical background or education (B.S., M.S.) with MBA or equivalent business experience.
* PMI Project Manager certification preferred.
* Knowledge of US government Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) certified a plus.
* Minimum 5 years of program management experience.
* Ability to understand the financial aspects of large scale, multi-year contracting.
* Must be a United States Citizen.
* Open to background checks consistent with attainment of necessary security clearance as required by end-user agency.
* Experience managing government contracts preferred.
* Ability to manage effectively in a matrix environment and display credibility in mentoring and forging solid, positive working relationships with business unit team, division staff, and corporate leadership team.
* Self motivated with bias for action.
* Approximately 30% travel required.
