Job Description-POSITION PURPOSE:The Physical Therapist evaluates patients mobility and motor assets and liabilities for functional performance. The Physical Therapist provides goal directed, problem oriented treatment to promote optimum independence in functional mobility. The Physical Therapist ensures continuation of performance through effective education of the patient, family or support system. The PT provides adaptive methods and equipment as appropriate to enhance performance. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of West Virginia.Current CPR card. TOTAL EDUCATION, VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Education sufficient to qualify for licensure by the WV Board of Physical Therapy as Physical Therapist. One year of rehabilitation experience preferred (recent graduates considered).MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:Wheelchairs, hydrotherapy equipment, electrical modalities, various therapeutic equipment and assistive devices, orthotics and prosthetics.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Indoors in climate controlled environment. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Mental and sensory ability to screen out extraneous stimulation in busy setting. Visual and auditory acuity for effective reading, writing and listening. Tactile and proprioceptive sensation for effective treatment. Ability to speak clearly. Lifts and transports patient of various weights, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Stands, walks, sits, pushes, pulls, carries, stoops, kneels, crouches, reaches, grasps and manipulates for the majority of assigned shift.DEGREE OF SUPERVISION:Minimal supervision. Required to exercise independent judgment.
