Our client is a growing building service designing company looking to double in size over the next 3 years.

Job Responsibilities:
1) Conduct field reviews of buildings for the purpose of ensuring general mechanical construction compliance with applicable local, provincial and national codes, and the contract documents prepared by company
2) Interpret and explain applicable building codes
3) Confer with consultants, building inspectors, architects, contractors, equipment manufacturers and owners regarding technical issues
4) Attend site meetings
5) Issue notice of changes/site instructions
6) Review progress claims
7) Manage list of deficiencies
8) Determine if Schedule C-B can be issued
9) Respond to Requests for Information (RFI)
10) Complete site surveys of existing conditions for design teams
11) Provide design teams with field services
12) Train and lead subordinate staff in the mechanical systems field reviews and document reviews
13) Host feedback seminars three times a year
14) Review specifications with designers
15) Resolve conflicts from site
16) Review and update mechanical maintenance and operational manuals
17) Analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action and fundamental mechanical principles as they apply to heating, cooling, ventilating, and exhaust systems
18) Review shop drawings and identify variances to the contract
19) Direct the testing of mechanical or plumbing devices and the methods used to detect possible defects in plumbing and mechanical equipment
20) Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing using the English language
21) Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work both in the office and on the construction site
22) Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
23) Provide out-of-town field services

Job Requirements:
1) BS in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma of Tech. (Mechanical)
2) Trade certification preferred
3) Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical trade/mechanical engineering
4) Expertise in the methods and practices involved in installing and maintaining a variety of plumbing, fire protection and mechanical systems and equipment
5) Ability to follow the principles and practices of building designs, construction and field reviews
6) Awareness of provincially mandatory regulations (such as WCB, Boiler Branch, cross connection control, etc.) applicable to building designs and construction with regulations specific to a municipality, city including building permit and occupancy
7) Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, plumbing installation, BC Building Code, NFPA standards, Natural Gas Code, plumbing codes, Mechanical Refrigeration Code
8) Excellent communication, blueprint reading and basic-level ACAD skills
9) Possession of valid drivers license
10) Ability and willingness to travel
