The Brookings Institution is a private nonprofit organization devoted to independent research and innovative policy solutions. Established in 1916, Brookings analyzes current and emerging issues and produces new ideas that matter - for the nation and the world.

This position is located in Beijing, Peoples Republic of China and the employer is the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University. The Brookings-Tsinghua Center for Public Policy (abbreviated name BTC) was established jointly by China’s Tsinghua University and the United States’ Brookings Institution and is located at the Tsinghua University School of Public Policy and Management. The Center is devoted to researching Chinese public policy issues and organizing policy roundtables, public lectures, private forums and discussions. The Center has also enjoyed many successes in its research, and has become an international forum and platform for international exchange and discussion. In support of China’s ongoing reforms, the BTC provides research of quality, independence, and impact.

Basic Function:

Supports BTC Director’s research work; under the direction of BTC Director and Center Manager, provides research and general administrative supports.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

•Manages BTC Director’s activities; schedules Director’s appointments and meetings; compiles, edits, and files interviews, speeches, and published articles of BTC director.

•Assists in Center research programs; collects and organizes data and information in both Chinese and English as needed by the research programs; arranges all research-related materials, documents and reports, and creates and maintains spreadsheet and research database; prepares materials to be used by BTC Director in interviews, meetings and conferences.

•Assists in the day-to-day maintenance of Center’s website and is responsible for management of research-related materials on the website.

Education and Experience:

•B.A. or higher degree in economics, computer science; research-related majors are preferred.

•At least 2-3 years relevant work experience.

•Must read, write, listen and speak standard Mandarin Chinese with fluent English.

•Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and prioritize accordingly.

•Must be flexible, diplomatic, trustworthy, and a good team-player, able to work in a fast-paced environment.

•Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
