Plainview, NY Wholesale Insurance broker seeks an Underwriting Assistant who will provide support to the Underwriters.


Responsibilities:
§ Services all accounts, including resolving agents' inquiries, complaints, requests, and policy processing activities within guidelines.

§ Gathers and organizes specified information and reports to assist in the underwriting decision.

§ Performs applicable procedures to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.

§ Computes rates and premiums for all new and renewal business.

§ Follow up with agents for needed information as determined by underwriters.

§ Performs additional functions as needed.

Skills:
Requirements:

§ Knowledge of fundamental Commercial Property & Commercial Liability insurance coverage basics, concepts, practices and procedures.

§ Knowledge of underwriting classes, forms, procedures, regulations, coverages and business processes for assigned territory

§ Demonstrated skills and authority to process endorsements.

§ Analytical skills to identify, gather and organize information and provide recommendation.

§ Customer focused attitude and customer service skills to resolve inquiries quickly and effectively.

§ Broker's license and fluency in Chinese language preferred.

§ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

§ Demonstrated initiative to complete assignments and obtain results.

§ Ability to work in a team environment to support overall profitability initiatives for assigned territory.

§ Solid organizational skills including: time-management, prioritization and attention to detail.

§ Must be computer literate.

§ Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment.

§ Minimum one year property and casualty insurance experience.

§ Must be a team player.
