Program areas include careers and life planning, health and sexuality, leadership and community action, sports, self-reliance and life skills, culture and heritage, and counseling.

Program Description:

As a part of a larger effort to address the well-being of girls, Girls Inc. is seeking a bilingual social worker/case manager to work one-on-one with girls and their families to help the girls be successful in school, at home, in their program and in the community. Working in collaboration with girls and their families, the social worker/case manager will help participants by engaging them to establish support systems in their schools and community to address their needs. The position maintains regular contact with 12-15 participants and their families at any given time and will help the participants and their families build upon their strengths.

Job Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the Girls Inc. Staff in the outreaching and identifying girls who can benefit from participation in the Behavioral Health and Wellness Program.
• Coordinate program services for elementary and middle school aged youth; assess each girl’s strengths and needs and develop a comprehensive strength-based service plan for each girl with identified goals, service needs, and intervention strategies. Includes individual intake assessments and home visits with girls participating in the program.
• Develop and maintain a community referral base for the purpose of linking target population to additional services in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Provide girls and families with advocacy and practical support in accessing services.
• Maintain close communication with related health, educational, and social service agencies and other community based organizations.
• Build relationships with community organizations and develop a resources referral base of CBO’s, school resources, social services programs, etc.

Skills:
Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in social welfare/social work, psychology, sociology, health or related behavioral/social science required or Bachelor’s degree with experience in social work/case management with youth.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English)
• Two years of social service experience working with girls, women and families from communities of color using a strength-based framework.
• Knowledge of resources in Oakland.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word.
• Demonstrated ability to be creative, innovative, collaborative, independent, take initiative, and inspire and encourage others to do the same.
