Santa Rosa Junior College Job Announcement: CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION OUTREACH COORDINATOR Duration: through June 30, 2009 (Continuation dependant upon funding) Short-term non-continuing* Mileage reimbursement provided for travel (Approximately 25 hours per week) $25.61/hr. JOB DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the Manager, School Initiatives and Career Pathways, develop, coordinate, and conduct outreach promoting the college's career and technical/occupational programs to diverse audiences. SCOPE The Career Technical Education (CTE) Outreach Coordinator delivers presentations and coordinates outreach activities promoting the college's CTE/occupational programs and services.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and deliver presentations about CTE/occupational programs and services to diverse groups and audiences and at multiple venues in region: career fairs, high school college nights, school classrooms, community based organizations, community college counselors, county/city economic development agencies, local one stop centers, meetings of business/industry groups, etc. * Provide classroom presentations; coordinate and staff annual CTE recruiting events at each Sonoma County high schools.
Qualifications 1. Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred 2. Strong public speaking skills and ability to communicate and present to various audiences 3. Experience conducting outreach to diverse community groups 4. Ability to take initiative, a self-starter, well organized, and able to manage multiple priorities 5. Knowledge of CTE programs and/or initiative to learn features and benefits of CTE post-secondary offerings 6. Event coordination experience 7. Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision 8. Keyboarding by touch and proficiency in MS Office Suite; Power Point 9. Excellent written and oral communication skills 10. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships 11. Ability to facilitate connections and collaboration among various constituents Education: Bachelor's degree preferred. *Short-term non-continuing (STNC) employees are employed for a time limited period and are paid an hourly rate for hours worked only. They are not entitled to benefits.
