Trooper Johnson, Children & Youth Sports Program Coordinator Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt Start Date: ASAP Organization Background Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP) is a nonprofit organization providing sports, fitness and recreation programs for people with physical disabilities. Our programs serve individuals and families with a wide range of ages and abilities from all over the greater San Francisco Bay Area. BORP has been working to improve the health, independence and social integration of people with disabilities through sports, fitness and recreation opportunities for the past 30 years. Position Summary BORP is seeking a dedicated, caring individual for the part-time position of Youth Transitions Support Coordinator. This position will work with at-risk youth participants in order to connect them with appropriate support services in their communities, including education, employment, tutoring, mentoring, independent living skills training, housing, transportation, advocacy, and other services as required. Participants will include children and youth with a wide variety of physical disabilities. The overall goal is to support youth in making a healthy and successful transition into adulthood.

Job Duties/Responsibilities - Assess at-risk youth participants and develop individualized action plans to address identified needs in order to support healthy transitions to adulthood. - Meet with youth, family members, program staff and relevant community organizations to determine appropriate course of action. - Advocate for and connect youth with relevant support services from other community organizations, government agencies and programs. - Track progress for each participant and evaluate effectiveness of support services provided. - Oversee and implement the youth mentoring program, including recruiting, training, monitoring, and supervising volunteer mentors. - Oversee and implement the youth portion of BORP's Travel Training program.

Qualifications/Experience - Bachelors Degree; a background in social work or advocacy is a plus. - Experience working with youth, people with physical disabilities, and/or diverse populations. - Demonstrated knowledge of community programs, government agencies and support services. - Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.

Other Skills/Requirements - Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills; - Able to work both independently and as part of a team; - Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access), email and internet; - Some flexibility in hours is required; including daytime and possible evening and weekend hours, and a mix of office hours and time spent in the field. - Ability to travel to local destinations throughout the Bay Area, access to a vehicle, valid CA Driver's License and good driving record.
