r n The primary focus of this job is the implementation and development of the asset/liability technical processes.  These processes are the foundation for making appropriate decisions in the context of asset/liability management and its focus on risk, return, and long term profitability.  This is an intermediate level position that requires significant technical expertise and relies on increasing business knowledge.  While some review by a senior actuary is expected, this individual will take initiative in identifying, researching and analyzing complex issues and concepts.  Minimum qualifications include receiving a designation of Associate in the Society of Actuaries or a designation as a CFA charterholder, and two to four years of relevant work experience.  Generally, there are no direct reports associated with this position. r n   r n Principal Duties and Responsibilities r n r n Model assets (bonds, MBS, mortgages) using accurate and efficient processes and assumptions. r n Integrate enhanced liability models into the asset/liability systems and processes. r n Assist in construction of single cell and multi-cell liability models. r n Adapt ALM models to various purposes: r n r n Duration and Convexity calculations. r n Cash Flow Testing r n Strategic Allocation Testing r n DigB36 r n Economic Capital r n r n r n Regularly communicate research findings and analysis to management r n Effectively work with any number of other cross functional/operational areas (e.g. investments, valuation, pricing) on specific initiatives. r n Maintain current knowledge of products and modeling methodology in the investment field to continually update and enhance modeling capabilities. r n Prepare routine reports r n r n Qualifications r n r n Bachelors degree required r n Associate in the Society of Actuaries and the ability and desire to attain FSA status, or CFA charterholder preferred. r n A minimum of two years hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of business analysis, pricing, valuation, ALM, finance, investments or corporate experience.  ALM experience is strongly preferred. r n Strong problem solving ability and project management skills. r n Hands on experience with current technology (MS Excel, TAS or MoSes, MS Access, VBA) r n Ability to effectively communicate technical ideas/applications with asset managers, investment systems personnel, and investment accounting personnel. r n r n Unum offers competitive pay, relocation assistance and excellent benefits.  Come join us if you're interested in working in an exciting and challenging environment for a company that is on the move! r n   r n Please apply on-line at www.unum.com/careers to Job Code 308537 . r n   r n Unum is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer regardless of a person's race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, military status, gender or sexual orientation.  r n
