Job Overview: ATMI is seeking an Intermediate Accountant. The Intermediate Accountant will work with a team of accountants with varied levels of responsibility. The candidate will work in a challenging multi-national accounting environment and will be expected to complete assignments with minimal supervision. Partnering with the business units on accounting and reporting requirements will be critical for success. The output of this function will have high exposure to Senior Management, the individual has the ability to drive improvements, play a key role in future business and system expansions as well as the implementation of new systems/processes. The Intermediate Accountant will be located in Danbury, Connecticut and report to the Accounting and Consolidations Manager. Primary Responsibilities: • Maintain the books in accordance with U.S. GAAP; • Responsible for the accounting and reconciliation of intangibles and various overhead accruals; • Reconcile, roll forward, and analyze fixed assets activity; • Responsible for the complete accounting for 2 foreign subsidiaries; • Perform intercompany eliminations; • Working knowledge of FAS 52 to perform monthly translation of foreign currency financial statements into USD financials; • Accounting for Revenue recognition under SAB104; • Analyze monthly results and provide explanation of significant variances on both the balance sheet and income statement, as required; • Close books and complete monthly close activities in accordance with monthly close schedule with minimal rework or supervision; • Reconcile all assigned accounts monthly and have available for review by the 6th business day; • Develop and implement process improvements for all areas of responsibilities by investigating and mastering the various accounting software and technologies used at ATMI; • Provide all documentation necessary to the auditors for the quarterly reviews / annual audit; and answer any related follow up questions. Education/Experience: • B.S. Accounting; • CPA preferred; • 4-6 years progressive finance and accounting experience, including 2-3 years experience in Big 4 Firm preferred; internal audit experience preferred; • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP; • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal; • Strong analytic skills and knowledge of general ledger accounting; • Experience with a multinational corporation, intercompany, consolidations and foreign exchange accounting strongly preferred. • Ability to meet stringent deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment; • Intermediate Excel skills required; • Working Knowledge of Oracle or other similar Enterprise software like SAP and PeopleSoft and its applications a plus; • Knowledge of transaction flow processes to implement process improvements a must; • Good project management skills required; • Proven track record of strong project management skills required; • Relational database experience preferred; To be successful in the role and at ATMI you will need: • Ability to handle ambiguity and changing priorities; • Ability to be a subject matter expert and make recommendations to senior leaders; • An unparalleled attention to detail; • Ability to work well independently; ATMI’s Core Values revolve around its employee’s ability to ACT IT: Be Accountable for your work and responsibilities.
