Click Here to Apply Online Title: Application Developer Req Number: chmc-00023332 Department: Biomedical Informatics / 31-590000 Job Grade: C-6 Start Time AM/PM: 8:00 End Time AM/PM: 4:30 Work Shift: 1st shift Hours Per Week: 40 Salary: 23.58 - 39.30 Location(s): Cincinnati OH MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Produce software that delivers requested functionality by following the Development Lifecycle. 2.Delivers quality software by possessing a working knowledge of modular programming techniques for construction, testing and implementation of assigned tasks 3.Prepares, or receives from Business Analyst, detailed workflow chart and diagram to illustrate sequence of steps that program must follow and to describe input, output, and logical operations involved 4.Analyzes workflow chart and diagram 5.Evaluates and recommends software and hardware to meet specific business needs or requirements 6.Collaborates with Business Analyst to obtain and analyze project specifications and flow charts 7.Actively participates in the development of functional and technical design documents 8.Confers with representatives of departments concerned with projects to resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls 9.Proposes a viable design approach by analyzing the possible courses of action and associated impacts 10.Converts detailed logical flow chart to language processable by computer. 11.Corrects program errors, using methods such as modifying program or altering sequence of program steps 12.Analyzes, reviews, and rewrites programs to increase operating efficiency or to adapt program to new requirements 13.Compiles and writes documentation of program development and subsequent revisions 14.Develops documents and presents project implementation plans. Appropriately and effectively communicates project status to all necessary parties. Actively utilizes project and time management skills to complete projects within specified timeframes 15.Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge into the department. 16.Follow policies and procedures governing the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information. 17.Provide services in a manner to be regularly and conveniently available to meet the needs of Cincinnati Children's patients, families and employees as determined by department management and Cincinnati Children's governing body. 18.Develop knowledge and professional skills through cross-training, literature and attendance at department meetings. 19.Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions. 20.Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency. 21.Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees, patients and families. Attend required Cincinnati Children's training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, bloodborne pathogens and OSHA. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures. 22.Understands, adheres to and models Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the department/unit. 23.Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS: Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to relate to diverse age and demographic backgrounds. Experience designing, developing and coding programming using Perl, JAVA,AJAX and MySQL and must be capable of working on Linux, Unix and Mac environments. Strong knowledge of relational databases and database programming. Ability to analyze and automate systems and related activity. EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in applicable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Three years of previous related experience required. Working knowledge of Gene expression data or experimental data design in research area is a plus.
