John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is seeking an Engineer to provide quality, timely application engineering customer support to two to three North American John Deere engine Distributors and/or Direct Accounts, closely aligned with the Marketing & Sales organization. In this position, you will: Provide engine selection/installation consultation in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) industrial and genset diesel applications - meeting engine application guidelines. Communicate clearly and effectively to the Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), Distributors, OEM customers, and OEM Application Lead Engineers, providing timely status on project requests, application reviews and feedback to fulfill customer requests for technical support. Work closely with the Marketing & Sales organization providing technical support for increased, profitable engine sales and new customer applications. Provide consultation in the area of electronic engine controls, electrical components, wiring harnesses, digital and analog throttles, etc. Conduct customer Design Reviews as required with assistance from Senior Application Integration Engineers. Perform and/or review engine Application Reviews (general engine installation, cooling system testing, and assist in torsional/vibration analysis) with assistance from Senior Application Integration Engineers. Assist the Senior Application Integration Engineers in researching issues, conducting customer design reviews, reviewing Application Review submittals, and generally supporting their John Deere engine Distributors and/or Direct Accounts as described above. Research requested changes to Application documentation (Application Guidelines, Drawings, Accessories, and Emissions Documents) and assist the Senior Application Integration Engineers in writing new and updated information. Maintain an awareness of competitive products and applications, looking for opportunities to increase JDPS engine sales in effective and creative ways. Assess new market application opportunities for JDPS engine applications based on experience and market conditions. Education Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering / Technology discipline, or equivalent experience. Engineering degree plus a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business or an MBA is beneficial. Required Skills and Experience 3 or more years of Product Engineering or Engineering Field Support experience. 1 or more years of experience in diesel engine design, engine performance, or vehicle applications. Demonstrated skills in communication of technical data and project information. Strong prioritization skills including ability to manage frequent changes. Flexibility in dealing with changing and/or partial information. Excellent team skills including project leadership and schedule management. Strong problem solving skills. Ability to travel up to 20-33% to support above defined activities. Desired Skills and Experience Understanding of engineering principles as they relate to engine applications. Experience in applying diesel engines in industrial and genset applications. Experience in specifying, applying, and testing electronic engine controls and conducting engine application cooling system tests. Experience in reviewing engine installations. Experience in technical sales support. Knowledge of the product development process. Good business acumen. Familiarity with SAP, Pro/Intralink, and Pro/ENGINEER.
