Are you passionate about the quality of software on mobile devices? Want to make a difference in one of Microsoft's hottest businesses? The Windows Devices Core team is looking for a Principal Development Lead for our Device Health team. You'll be responsible for leading a team of seasoned developers who work on improving the quality of Windows Mobile and embedded devices in the areas of performance, stability, battery life, and memory consumption. You will be an advocate for best practices across the division and will set and communicate clear goals not only for the health team, but also for the product. As such, you must have strong communication skills, a deep passion for quality, and ability to navigate the organization. You will interface directly with the project release owners, the feature development managers, test and program management. Being an advocate for health goals means creating a culture of health focus, conducting early design reviews, driving education when necessary, ensuring tools are in place, and investigating and resolving performance, battery life and memory issues that arise. The role demands strong leadership, strategic thinking, customer focus, and sound engineering judgment. Qualifications The candidate must have commercial development and product shipping experience, excellent communication skills, and a real passion for shipping software and developing talent. The ideal candidate must have a solid track record of managing highly talented developers, shipping products, and working well with Program Management and Test. Experience driving cross-division initiatives would be a plus. While specific domain knowledge is a plus, it is secondary.
