Job Title: Software Development Engineer Job Category: Software Development Product: Games Date Posted: 09/06/2008 Job Code: 242482 Location: WA - Redmond Travel Required: Microsoft Game Studios' Halo team is looking for an experienced game developer to help develop a new game in the Halo universe. Work on one of the most exciting and creating intellectual properties in the industry; we are gathering an incredible team to help drive the future of Halo. As a Game Engineer, you will work on a team of engineers responsible for guiding multiple game projects in conjunction with top-tier developers such as Bungie and Ensemble Studios. The ideal candidate has shipped multiple games, touched various game systems, and is passionate about making great games. You will get exposure to multiple game engines and pipelines, and will help shape them as well. You will be working with the best in the industry, and we expect the best from you as well. RESPONSIBILITIES As a Game Engineer on the MGS Halo team, you will work directly with the Development Managers and Producers both internally and at key external development partners from project greenlight to release on all aspects of engineering planning and execution. Your team will be expected to work as peers with the best in the business. Your team's primary responsibility will be working with externally developed titles, but you will also be involved with the architecture and development of internal titles as well. Develop and maintain strong relationships with major development partners Work closely with production, test, design, art, and other specialties to identify and resolve blocking issues and interdependencies Debug and optimize key areas of code (not just your own) Aid in the architecture and implementation of the game as necessary QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS You must have experience shipping AAA current generation games Strong cross-team communication skills. You will be working closely with not only other disciplines, but also with top-tier external developers as well At least 4 years of C/C++ professional experience (C# is a plus) An amazing passion for creating games An eagerness to dive into and learn a whole range of gaming systems depending on project demands BONUS SKILLS Strong debugging and optimization skills in a multi-threaded environment Experience working at or with a game publisher Expertise in a game-relevant specialty such as AI, gameplay, physics, multiplayer, etc. Ability to write haiku at a moment's notice An in-depth understanding of the entire game development process from concept to release
