The Data Analyst Lead directs the data analysis function and takes on the most challenging data analysis work. The Data Analyst Lead maintains close communication with other functional leads and coordinates the efforts of data analysts with resources in other functional areas. Responsibilities: * Establish the operational approach of the Data Analysis Team by defining the people, processes and technology that the team will use to do its work. * Interact proactively with Business Analysts, Data Architects/Modelers, Data SMEs, ETL Developers, Interface Developers and Quality Assurance Analysts to provide comprehensive data analysis. * Serve as the resident expert on data profiling, analysis, querying and mapping techniques. Foster improvement of data analysts by providing guidance and knowledge transfer in these areas. * Obtain data requirements, identify data sources, determine the content of data fields and the meaning of their values, define and document transformations between data sources and data targets. * Perform data profiling, analysis, querying and mapping on mainframe, relational/multidimensional database and XML data. * Profile, analyze, query and map data in support of data quality, data conversion, enterprise reporting and SOA interface efforts. * Define data quality, consolidation (party matching and house holding), parsing, standardization and enhancement rules. * Collaborate with business data stewards to monitor, investigate, correct and prevent data quality issues in accordance with a data quality plan. * Contribute to a detailed inventory of firm data assets by capturing data analysis in an enterprise wide data dictionary. Required Skills and Experience * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Strong knowledge of mainframe data files (VSAM files and COBOL copy books), relational/multidimensional database schema, and XML document structure. * Ability to write complex SQL statements. Familiarity with SQL Server and T-SQL preferred. * Knowledge of data profiling and data quality tools. Familiarity with Business Objects Data Insight and DQXI preferred. * 5-7 years data analysis experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
