We currently have an outstanding opportunity for an ASSOCIATE RESEARCH SCIENTIST to be based at our office in Monterey, CA. You will be responsible for providing leadership and support in conducting research and technical studies related to CTB's products and contracts under the supervision of senior staff. This will include designing and implementing specific studies, conducting or supervising data analyses, communicating results, and producing reports and professional papers. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of more senior staff, design and conduct psychometric research studies that support CTB and its customers. Prepare written reports of these studies. Implement appropriate analysis procedures that meet specifications, quality, and timeliness standards on projects. Supervise technical support staff on projects. Communicate research results and related policy issues orally and in writing to research staff, other departments, and customers. Prepare research papers for internal use, for presentation at professional meetings, and for professional journals. Be apprised of new research methodologies and technical advances described in current literature. Understand and implement the AERA/APA/NCME Professional Standards. Understand big picture of work purpose and processes. Understand roles of other departments and act accordingly. Document all work according to departmental procedures. Master's degree and all coursework for a Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree in psychometrics, educational measurement, or a related field. MUST have advanced knowledge of psychometrics, including: validity, reliability, item analysis, IRT, scaling, equating. Strong understanding of and experience using complex statistical and/or measurement procedures. Programming skills (SAS preferred) to conduct project analyses. Strong statistical expertise. Strong communication skills and able to work effectively in a team setting. MUST have proven ability to interpret results from different viewpoints, providing recommendations.
