Manager of Engineering - Electric Utility Design Are you an Engineering Manager versed in the design of Electric Utility systems? If so read on... An Energy Co-Op based out Indiana, is in need of an Engineering Manager to direct the Engineering functions of the Cooperative s distribution system in such a manner as to assure modern design of electric distribution facilities that meet the highest standards of capacity and condition and which reflect the most efficient utilization of construction and operation methods, techniques and equipment. To direct the activities of the Engineering Department to assure that the services provided meet members expectations for promptness, expertise and professionalism. Educational Requirements : A Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in electrical engineering is required. Additional specialized training in electric utility system design, operation and evaluation via seminars and special courses is also required. Registration as a Professional Engineer with the ability to have such registration recognized in the State of Indiana is highly desirable. Experience : A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in electric utility system design, construction, and operation is required or directly related field. A minimum of three years experience in managing the work of others, and maintaining effective relationships, both within and outside the organization, is preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : - Works as a team member with the CEO, Manager of Administration, Operations Manager, Manager of Member Services, and Corporate Relations Manager to correct consumers complaints and develop methods to provide effective, efficient daily operations. - Communicates and interprets the Cooperative s Mission Statement, Strategic Goals and polices within the Department to establish direction and to obtain understanding and commitment by the employees of the Department - Develops recommendations regarding departmental organizational structure and staffing to accomplish approved program goals through the most effective and efficient utilization of available resources. - Maintains effective internal and external relationships to enhance information transfer, productivity and the ability to influence decisions of others. -Administers employee development and compensation programs, in the engineering department, consistent with applicable policies, procedures and practices to assure the maintenance of a highly competent, motivated and effective work force. - Monitors progress and costs incurred in carrying out departmental work plans and budgets; and prepares regular reports to the CEO to assure compliance with program goals and budget levels and to serve as the basis for replanning. - Directs all approved engineering, construction, operations, maintenance and consumer wiring activities and programs to obtain maximum productivity and effectiveness in the pursuit of strategic goals. - Directs the preparation of the Long and Short Range Engineering Plans, Departmental Annual budgets and other engineering and operational studies to assure adequate system capacity, service reliability and workplace and public safety and to provide distribution plant capitalization estimates for financial planning. - Maintains a current knowledge and understanding of RUS, NESC and other applicable standards and regulations to insure that the Cooperative s distribution and general plant facilities are designed, constructed and operated in a safe and efficient manner with consideration for limited liability. - Establishes system performance criteria and reviews measures thereof to determine consistency with system reliability and power quality goals; and develops and implements action plans required to maintain electric service within the limits of established quality and continuity standards. - Oversees and coordinates the annual inspection of the sub station at General Motors during their annual shut down period. - Oversees and coordinates the annual inspections of all the distribution sub stations owned and operated - Provides assistance to General Motors and other commercial and industrial accounts concerning power quality issues or other related engineering issues. - Acquires and maintains easements for our distribution lines. - Assist the operations department in restoring power during large outages. - Oversees the installation and implementation of the Automated Meter Reading system (TWACS). - Continually analyzes the distribution system to minimize line loss. - Plan, help and oversee construction of new substations.
