We are in search of an EXCEPTIONAL COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER to work in our Monterey office. Remote candidates within a reasonable distance of the Monterey office will be considered. Significant experience in Public Relations and Corporate communications is absolutely required. MUST be accountable for developing pitching strategies and proactively working with writers and editors to secure media placements. MUST help develop and drive internal communications initiatives and channels, to successfully communicate business goals that will impact both top and bottom line in businesses. Effective communicator through customer service, employee motivation, diplomacy, marketing, and problem-solving. MUST be extremely tactical and strategic in this role. Work very closely with internal customers. DO NOT need event planners and/or trade show coordinators/managers. RESPONSIBILITIES: NEED hands-on media outreach, proactive in contact and communication, to promote product services and development. Secure media placements! MUST be comfortable supporting internal/external stakeholders with response to media requests - professional and resourceful! Create/organize talking points to promptly and effectively deliver key messages. Work with team to manage press releases and conduct press briefings. Provide internal support/ partnership to generate story ideas, concepts, creating copy quickly. Solicit and compile customer feedback/testimonials for use in media and marketing efforts, for print, online, and video channels. Work closely with Sales/Marketing Teams. Create/manage conference presentation proposals for major education conferences. Drive internal communications initiatives and channels; successfully communicate business goals, strategies, employee recognition, and customer feedback. Draft announcements, business updates, internal/external newsletters, and management communications. Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Public Relations or Communications. Minimum of 7+ years experience. MUST have experience in a spokesperson role; working with public agencies or education is a plus! Excellent written/verbal communications skills, successfully conveying ideas to various audiences. Proven ability to perform in a broad range of situations, working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, successfully bringing projects to completion. High level of confidentiality and management of sensitive information prior to it becoming public knowledge. Ability to generate concepts, story ideas, and create copy quickly. Manage cross-functional teams when obtaining information and helping to resolve issues that may or may not become public. Ability to discreetly serve both customer and corporate interests in an often politically charged environment. MUST have exceptional talent to present complex concepts with simplicity, expediting resolution process during internal and external communications challenges. Ability to travel as required for several conferences per year. DESIRED: Education media experience, but not a requirement. Great pitching and communications skills translate across industries.
