The Steam Turbine Lead Buyer is responsible for sourcing parts for the Schenectady, NY and Bangor, ME manufacturing locations. * The Steam Turbine Lead Buyer will coordination and procurement of assigned commodities to meet the requirements of GE. * Drive supply base to 100% on-time delivery performance. * Coordinate, help direct, as well as perform, all required functions from initiation of an intent to purchase through satisfactory delivery of materials. * Interface with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure necessary design changes are implemented in a timely fashion. * Interface with Manufacturing and Sourcing Quality to ensure all quality requirements are met. * Work with the supply base to address any manufacturing problems that arise in their factory. * Perform all required functions from purchase order placement to satisfactory delivery of materials. * Develop Sourcing strategies for assigned commodities relative to cost, quality and fulfillment. * Ensure key supplier qualifications are completed in a timely manner to ensure fulfillment, cost out and single/sole source supplier reduction. * Help drive and participate in engineering productivity ideas to reduce cost of products. * Interface with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure business needs are being met. Qualifications * BS / BA degree. * Minimum 3 years of experience in sourcing, engineering or manufacturing. Desired * BS / BA degree in a technical field. * Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams. Detail-oriented and data-driven. * Demonstrated strong project management skills. * Excellent interpersonal communication and facilitation skills with ability to influence others * Strong quantitative and analytical skills. * Strong PC and database management skills. * Black Belt or Green Belt certified (GE employees only). * Minimum 5 years manufacturing/sourcing experience. * GE Program graduate (GE employees only). * GE Energy familiarity.
