Click Here to Apply Online Job Title: Financial Analysis & Controls Management Job Category: Finance Product: (Not Product Specific) Date Posted: 09/16/2008 Job Code: 241515 Location: WA - Redmond Travel Required: The Mobile Communication Business group ("MCB") develops, markets, and sells the Windows Mobile operating system for PocketPC and SmartPhones, as well as services and applications that run on top of the operating system. The MCB finance team is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to be a key contributor in evaluating and supporting this business group. The position involves supporting the MCB Marketing Group and will be responsible for financial close, business planning as well as creating and evaluating business cases for new mobile service offerings. Financial Close: Perform month-end close activities, including variance analysis, journal entry review, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting. Ensure fair and consistent representation of transactions in the financial statements, including expense recognition, accruals, and deferrals. Ensure financial transactions and statements conform to Microsoft Accounting Policies and GAAP, as appropriate. Communicate monthly results to Business Group and corporate audiences. Provide MCB Marketing Group with finance direction and training as needed. Business Planning: Provide support for the annual MCB Target Setting Process including multi-year views of MCB Marketing expenses as well as revenue from new service offerings. Develop the quarterly expense forecast for the MCB Marketing group. Drive preparation and consolidation of detailed operating budgets. Business Case Analysis: Drive the evaluation of business opportunities for Mobile Services offerings. Help evolve the Mobile Services strategy. Identify Key Performance Metrics for new business offerings. Provide financial modeling and intelligence to support key marketing initiatives to help measure and then track return on these investments. Develop a methodology for evaluating marketing effectiveness. Provide insightful analysis of the business and competition. Understand competitive threats and assist in the development of responses. Recommended Qualifications: * Finance degree / MBA Preferred * Minimum 8 years of experience in the relevant field of finance, accounting, or business analysis. * Strong financial modeling and analytical skills required, as well as strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills * Demonstrated experience in developing complex financial models; excellent quantitative analysis and forecasting skills Advanced Excel skills required
