Job Title: Program Manager Job Category: Hardware Engineering Product: (Not Product Specific) Date Posted: 09/24/2008 Job Code: 244476 Location: WA - Redmond Travel Required: The Xbox Accessories Group is looking for a product champion to lead the development, validation, and business success of innovative products, such as game controllers, network adapters, memory devices, headsets, charging devices, and a variety of other products used with the Xbox 360? game console. As a program manager, you are responsible for leading a cross-functional Engineering, Test, Operations, and Business team from initial concept to high volume production. In the same time, you will be challenged to meet program goals for product cost, schedule, development cost, and product performance. You are also responsible for working with Product Planning, Marketing, Usability Specialists, Industrial Designers, and Engineering to define the product, develop the business case, and author the supporting product specifications. You will participate with negotiations working with Account Managers, Business Development, and Legal. You should have a strong desire and ability to understand consumer needs and a willingness to develop holistic product solutions that delight our customers and exceed their expectations. Your track record should include managing development of high volume consumer products and should include multi-disciplinary team leadership, product definition, development and execution of master program schedules, program budget definition and management, development and management of product bill of materials and cost model, vendor and contract management, and high volume manufacturing. Key Job Expectations and Responsibilities: Team leadership for cross functional product development team Define product feature requirements and write product specifications, including documentation submittal for configuration control. Collaboration across multiple disciplines and groups Creation of the statement of work and direction of vendors and partners Organize, present, and document technical and program reviews Ensure products meet worldwide regulatory agency compliance requirements. Risk anticipation, assessment, and management Execute multi-purpose programs including new products, modules, cost reduction and/or continuous improvement Validate the developing products can be manufactured reliably and repeatedly Partner and work with geographically diverse design and/or manufacturing companies Development and protection of intellectual property Present program plans and status in written and verbal presentations to other groups and management Lead component and supplier selection and qualification, may include support for contract negotiation and supplier management Organize and lead development builds in the factories Explore and understand competitive landscape in both product and business terms Domestic and international travel required Requirements BS/MS engineering degree with 8+ years program management experience in a fast paced environment Responsibility for at least two significant full product development cycles in a high performance, consumer products business Self-motivated and results driven Experience working independently and as part of a team to solve difficult technical, business, cost, and schedule challenges Experience with team building and managing resources - both domestically and international, inside and outside of Microsoft Strong strategic leadership and analytical skills Solid critical questioning and thinking skills Excellent communication (written and oral) skills and collaborate effectively with proven interpersonal skills Firm comprehension of consumer electronics technologies
